"Tell No One"
by Harlan Coben

Tell No One book cover

This book is the latest release by Harlan Coben. I have been a huge fan of his since I found his Myron Bolitar series. Harlan has had remarkable success with that series, including an Edgar, Anthony, and Shamus awards. The escapades of Myron aren't in this stand-alone mystery, though.

Tell No One is a terrific suspense novel featuring Dr. David Beck. His beloved wife was abducted and killed during their annual visit to a cabin on a private lake. He had never stopped loving her, in spite of advice from well-meaning friends and family. After eight years, he receives a message on his computer that his wife is still alive, and he must tell no one about it. Naturally, he does everything possible to find out whether or not the message is true, and if Elizabeth is still alive.

I wondered before I read this book if Harlan was capable of veering away from Myron and creating another likable character. Of course he was, and this gripping and fast-paced book will convince anyone of his talents as a mystery writer. The love and devotion David has for his wife is touching and believable, and we know he'll go to the ends of the earth to find out if she lives. There are plenty of frightening bad guys and a twisting, turning plot that won't let you go until the end.

Rather than Tell No One, I'm Telling Everyone to read this book, and I then say to go get the rest of Coben's books. You won't be disappointed.
