"Heckler"

Heckler book cover

This modern mystery was written by Dan Barton. It introduces you to the show business world of stand-up comedy, a place where most of us have never gone. Dan Barton is a professional stand-up comedian, so he knows the territory and takes us there behind the scenes with him.

The main character is Biff Kincaid, a comedian who is stunned to find his best friend and fellow comedian, Tiger Moore, has been murdered. Biff has to do some serious digging into Tiger's past to find out what could have driven someone to kill him. Biff travels back and forth between Las Vegas and Hollywood to get at the truth behind the murder, putting himself in danger as he stirs up the past

I like stories that take me somewhere I've never been. I enjoyed going behind the curtain with the comedians, and found, as you might already suspect, that it isn't all footlights and fame. Biff is a solid character with a sense of humor(of course!) and a very strong sense of what's right and wrong. He is diligent in his search for his friend's killer and keeps fighting when he is threatened himself. You might say he's a stand-up guy.
